Meals in the Philippines is a time of bonding and telling stories.  It is sharing of foods and foods with stories and comments and plans.  It includes not only the members of the family, but the extended families, like the househelps, drivers and others.
Sundays especially is a time when relatives sometimes make a visit and share lunch or dinner while they bring their own "baon" (food from their own kitchen) and share the fun and laughter.  It does not have to be lechon, or pancit, it just have to be food that when shared deliciously munched by everyone present.
